BTW, could you post the exact steps that you're using to register? (Which link/button you click on which page, etc.). The message about someone already using a username or password isn't supposed to be able to show up until after someone clicks the link in the email that's sent to them, but it sounds like you're seeing this error on the normal registration page, which I'm having a hard time reproducing.
