Option for no punctuation and capital letters

I was wondering if we could have the option for no punctuation and no capital letters with sentences/phrases. Sometimes, the sentence is considered wrong, just for those reasons. At Memrise, there was no need for either, to be correct.

Good idea @Cindy1100 , I think you are requesting that whatever the "correct" answer is, the typed response would be marked correct irrespectively of case and punctuation.

Sounds like a good idea, and I think it should be pretty easy to implement 🙂

I think it'd probably make sense for this to be the default, with courses that really need special characters (e.g. math courses) having a "strict typing" option, similar to Memrise.

Should diacritics also be ignored?

Personally, I think diacritics are important and to ignore them would be like misspelling the word. That's just my opinion, though. 🙂

neoncube The option to ignore diacritics is definitely needed.

In some cases, such as special diacritics of ancient languages that do not have input support in the OS, can only be entered by copying and pasting. For such things, the creator should provide an alternative notation, but existing courses do not always do so, making them practically unavailable.

@Cindy1100 It's not explicitly mentioned in that post, but capital letters are also not required 🙂 I didn't think to add an option to make capital letters be required, but I could if people like. I could see how that might be useful for grammar courses 🙂
