Course migration progress

Another ~50 courses have been cloned! 🙂

Each of these courses had more than one attribute column with the same name. I've solved this by merging the attribute columns that have the same name.

These courses have IDs from 233071 to 233126 and might benefit from more cleanup in the future.

EDIT: Nvm, I've removed these courses again. I think I've figured out a better way to migrate them.

neoncube Thank you! What do you mean by "progress"? Will I see a dashboard with their progress somewhere?

FinUniAcademic If a student has learned a bunch of words on Memrise, it's possible to import that progress into My Little Word Land, so that the words don't need to be learned again (see https://mylittlewordland.com/import-memrise-progress for instructions). This process involves downloading a Chrome or Firefox extension, though, which students might not be comfortable with.

It's also currently only possible to import progress into My Little Word Land courses where a student hasn't yet started learning any words.

On second thought, perhaps this isn't a feature that would be widely applicable to a class of students 🙂

larboylan I've just released a feature that allows one to reset one's progress on a course: https://forum.mylittlewordland.com/d/159-new-feature-reset-course-progress

You should be able to use this to erase your progress on a course and then import progress from Memrise 🙂

I'm also working on a feature that lets progress from Memrise be merged into existing progress on My Little Word Land, but this is probably a ways from being released 🙂

I've run a script that has re-migrated about 50% of the courses that people are taking on My Little Word Land.

This script:

Uploaded a new version of each course. This fixed a lot of bugs in various courses.
Migrated each person's progress from the old course to the new course.
Deleted the old course.

If you notice anything strange, please let me know! 🙂

(Also, if you had bookmarks to courses, this update probably broke those bookmarks, sorry).

It ultimately doesn't matter since I didn't get very far but https://mylittlewordland.com/course/351386 was uploaded with a new ID and although it appears in https://mylittlewordland.com/dashboard for me and I see word number count e.g.

but when I click Review I get "It appears that you haven't yet learned any words in this course. Click the "Learn" link in the top left to get started."

I've done some investigating, and it looks like some people's progress was migrated successfully and some people's wasn't. I've fixed this for about 800 of the remigrated courses. The other 200 I may need to do by hand. The course that you linked to is one of the 200 🙂

Now the review is the wrong way around; if you choose multiple choice and audio…it says the audio in Czech but the multiple choice options are also in Czech…before the multiple choice answers were in English

mike Thanks. Should be fixed now 🙂 It looks like I need to go through all of the courses that are currently in use and check whether the "word" and "definition" columns are swapped.

I think I'm going to need to go through and remigrate everyone's progress, too. It looks like a lot of progress got messed up when I remigrated the courses :/ Currently working on a fix, but it'll probably take a day.

mike I think I got it fixed! 🙂

It looks like you'd learned words in three directions for that course:

Czech to English
English to Czech
Audio to English

So far, I've only applied the fix to your one course. Can you let me know if everything looks okay?

I've finished repairing all but two of everyone's courses, except for ignored words, which I still need to look into.
