Feature request: It would be great to have the learn/review settings (number of words, typing vs multiple choice) remain between sessions, or be able to change the default.

Thanks so much for getting all this together!

I actually prefer learning both directions separately. If you end up changing it, maybe there's a way to add a toggle for the behavior? E.G. "review words only in learned direction" vs "review all directions for learned words". In particular, I think having listening exercises be separate from definitions is helpful--just because I can identify the word from audio doesn't mean I've learned the definition.

I would like to be able to set default settings per deck (challenge type, typing vs multiple choice, number of words and repeats thereof) so I can one click into a practice in preferred way. Currently takes three or four which over time is a real impediment. Also would like a spaced repetition schedule put in or settable so it will pick learn or review for me. These two things and it is perfect I think.

Some of us have asked for the ability to set a choice that is then set until we change it.

Many thanks, but this seems to set number of items to learn and number times to be tested, but what I'd like is also an ability to set to Multiple choice (or typing), please.

Hi, I just saw mention of this site in a reddit post and I think it's such a wonderful idea! I really like the name as well, it's weirdly similar to my youtube, and I'm really intrigued by some of the features here.

I do have a few suggestions, some of them I've noticed already when skimming through the forum but:

    1. To see how many words need reviewing for all my courses as a whole, and being able to review them all together. I liked on Memrise, not having to click on specific courses, then clicking review, but just reviewing everything in one big bulk.
    2. Correct answers turning green or some indication you got it right really helps.
    3. When you review, you've added the ability to choose between whether you see the question in the language you're learning, and the answers in your original language, or vice versa. It'd be nice to be able to choose both, so that sometimes the questions appear one way or the other.
    4. Audio of the words doesn't bother me personally too much but it would be nice to turn on a sound effect for when you get questions right. The duolingo sound effect sits in my brain as a positive feeling. I liked the noise on the Memrise speed tests too, it makes it faintly addictive.
    5. This feature obviously isn't a priority but one day, a version of the speed review game from Memrise would be fun. I liked bombing through 100 words in one sitting, and I liked the faint tension of having 3 lives to try and make it to the end.

That's all I can think to say, thank you again for this wonderful site!

On MemRise, we could have a pop up information from the Attributes after answering a question.

We also had a way of displaying further information at tests

Hi @[deleted], is this on your eventual list?

The problem I see is that although this information may have been uploaded to MLWL, it may not be in a non-testing column, so we might have to set that up.

DW7 Not yet, but it's been floating around in the back of my mind πŸ™‚

MLTT Would you care to divulge the name of your YouTube channel? I'm curious XD

I'm really glad you like the site, and thanks for the suggestions! πŸ™‚

Agreed that there needs to be a better way to easily review a bunch of vocabulary. I've been thinking that this could pair nicely with a way to organize courses into categories on one's dashboard, but maybe I should first take a shot at some more basic functionality related to this.

I'll put your other suggestions onto the list! πŸ™‚

Love the project!! I would love to see the in course discussions like how Memrise used to have back in the day. Helps a lot in reporting errors, recruiting contributors, and connecting with other learners. The community aspect of Memrise was really fun.

          I agree.

When things settle down I hope to create several more threads for the different category of courses I support like "Italian", "Geography", "Nature", "Art" etc, and post links to the thread on the course description.

          hi neoncube,

i don't want any features that are difficult to implement - your site is a gift from heaven anyhow - except that old request "this is a course i made". I have though the problem of characters in Chinese/Japanese etc. Would be possible to increase these specific fonts?

          many many thanks

In definition-word learn mode it would be amazing to play the word audio.

              Hydroptere Haha, thanks ^_^

I still have the "this is a course that I made" feature on the list πŸ™‚

Can you post a link to one of the courses where the Chinese/Japanese characters are too small? There's currently a bug where sometimes a column is being marked as the wrong language, which is messing up the font. Once that is fixed, I love the idea of being able to set a custom font size (or even a custom font! πŸ™‚ ) for each language.

                RobertoUa Hi @RobertoUa! πŸ™‚

Can you post a link to the course where you'd like to see this? Some courses currently have the definition and word columns swapped, which is causing some audio issues. I'd like to see if that's the case with the course that you're using πŸ™‚

Thank you for making this site! I hope it takes off in a huge way.

I'd really like to see an option to disable/toggle Strict Typing when reviewing a course. Relaxing the diacritics is really nice for those long review sessions, and it's one of those things that made Memrise very binge-able for me.

Maybe this falls under the Answer Customization feature request? But it differs in that it would be a single toggle switch somewhere.

                Thanks again!

neoncube ok, i shall do that

btw, can you introduce a thing like "course learned" or similar? i have finished some short courses and observed that taking them down from the dashboard makes them "unlearned". I am not asking the server to remember what we learned and finished or quitted underway, because that takes quite some server capacity, but just a sort of list? or marker "done"? or something?

many thanks for your efforts, time, nerves, money, abilities etc. You're quite something…

zieuie Interesting. I hadn't thought about making the strict typing option be available on a per-review basis. I'd been envisioning it as applying to an entire course (or at least an entire column). I'll put this on the list! πŸ™‚
