sj9000 Sorry for the late reply! If you haven't gotten very far yet, I'd probably create a single course and wait for levels to be added. If you've already started creating levels as separate courses, that's probably fine, too, and I'd be happy to do a bit of behind the scenes work to merge them into a single course once support for levels are added 🙂

djwerle Creating an app for My Little Word Land has been floating around in the back of my mind, but at the moment, there's so much to add to the website that I haven't really thought about it too much XD

I've tried to make mylittlewordland.com somewhat mobile friendly, but I admit that I haven't tested this too thoroughly, haha. If you're using it on mobile and there's something that could be better, let me know and I'll see what I can do! 🙂

neoncube I haven't yet - I'm building out the levels in spreadsheets and tossing around the idea of hiring some native speakers on fiverr or something to record audio clips. Thanks again!

Hey! Maybe some kind of export option of all the words from the course would be nice (into csv or excel)

First of all, thank you so much for creating this site! It's really amazing that this exists.

Here on some features from Memrise I think are really important and I'd love to see added here, in order of importance:

    1. Audio playing with every word (whether you get it right or wrong).
(This is the most important aspect of Memrise for me - the mix of audio, reading, and writing. Helps move words to long term memory.)

    2. Levels / Sections

    3. Something to make it more clear what "Level Up" means in reviews

(I read the forum post explaining it, but I create my courses for a lot of learners who struggle greatly with technology and I don't think they would be able to figure out what it means)

Thank you for your hard work!!!

      Hi סקלן,

Thank you for the kind words, and you're very welcome… glad you're liking the site! :D

Agreed about points #2 and #3.

For #1: I think this should already be happening. Can you post a link to a course where this isn't working?

      Thanks 🙂

Brilliant - thanks ! (Good to hear that you are still able to work on MLWL.)

DW7 Yes, thanks! ^_^ I've had more time to work on it lately 🙂

Hi! This site is fantastic!! I really love that we can choose in each review/learning session how many words will be presented to us and how they will be tested in particular.

If you do need ideas (1 & 4 are most important to me but maybe the others are of interest)…

        1. The option of missing multiple choice and typing questions, of doing it in both directions (word-->definition and definition-->word), and of deciding if with both multiple choice and typing whether only multiple choice or only typing has both directions (not sure if that last one is clear!). I really liked that in memrise's learn feature first had you see the word, then select its definition in multiple choice, then select the word in multiple choice, and then type 4x (or something like that). I felt that was really useful for learning bit by bit--to me things like Anki don't work because I can't remember a word right away, I need to see it a few times first. If there could be some kind of advanced setting where learners can adjust this to our needs that would be even better than memrise!
        2. Some kind of indicator of progress during learn/review sessions. It's helpful to know whether I've done less than, about, or more than half of the session, for example, and keeps me motivated to continue (another thing I miss in Anki)
        3. Some kind of indicator of progress on the course itself: same reason
        4. In memrise, when there were special characters in responses, it would list all special characters used in the course below the typing prompt in review and learn. This was really helpful because it wasn't necessary to learn a whole new keyboard layout or constantly copy/paste. If automatic detection is too complicated right now, maybe a button that provides all the special characters listed in Microsoft word (+/or possibility for users to contribute site-wide to reduce work for you?)
        5. Least important for me: indicator of progress on a particular word shown during learning session (memrise had the growing flower thing, but even just a bar showing progress is great!).
        6. Could be interesting later on: the possibility of categorizing words by progress made, in terms of how well you know it/review times (ie: last assigned to be reviewed within 7 days of when you learned/reviewed it; last assigned to be reviewed within 8-30 days of when you reviewed it; last assigned to be reviewed within 30-365 days of when you reviewed it; last assigned to be reviewed after 366 days of when you reviewed it). Perhaps just symbols to quickly see where you are in a word, or maybe even possibility to divide full list of words by progress on the word. Categories could be something like recent, decent, solid and expert, or if you want to go with with the village theme it could be sticks, bricks, house and mansion or something
        7. Similar to 6: the possibility to see the list of words in a course that are causing the most difficulty, ie if you've responsed incorrectly more than 30% of the time (maybe even make this number adjustable in an advanced setting for each user?), and maybe even to review specifically that list of words?

The only reason I still use memrise is because I want to be able to type in other writing systems. I have no idea how difficult it is to offer this option, but if it is feasible, could you consider including it? Thank you very much!

armazenamentoparaestudos Sorry for the super late reply. I've been thinking about this for a while but don't yet have a plan.

My initial thoughts were that it'd probably be best to encourage people to install the keyboard of the language that they're learning, but I hadn't considered languages that don't have a keyboard.

I can definitely see how it'd be nice to have a convenient way to type special characters, too 🙂

Hi! I'd love to see the following features if/when you can (apologies if any of these are redundant in this thread):

              1. Ability to mark/flag challenging words for extra/exclusive review.
              2. Likewise, an ability to mark words as "already learned" that moves them to review.
              3. Ability to sort courses in the public course search pages by number of words. (This one would be really nice!)
              4. The ability to look at the answer/definition without jumping to the whole vocab list. Basically just an unhide button that reveals the answer.
              5. Maybe add a feature in the "Learn" mode where the vocab is introduced individually. I know I can just read the list beforehand, but I'd greatly prefer to have them introduced one at a time throughout the lesson.

              Thanks!!
