  • Finding My Memrise Course in the Course List

neoncube Thanks very much for the quick reply neoncube! I had been looking under "Geography". Got it now! I'll find some time to review the content in case it needs updating. The Course description (here and on Memrise) certainly need a tweak. Can't thank you enough for all you've done with this site!

I'll see if I can transfer my avatar across, too!

    alanh You're welcome! ^_^

Happy to see your new avatar here! :D

@[deleted] I'm thinking it'd make sense to first duplicate the Memrise category structure and then go through and discuss how to improve the category list 🙂

Barskiy I'll put it on the list! 🙂

It may be a couple of weeks before your courses get transferred, as I need to first do some modifications to the transfer scripts.

I've proposed a categorization system here:

johnastsang I'd love to help create separate categories for individual languages (no matter how small) and develop a catalogue better than the current Memrise one, using geographical and genealogical classifications. For example, if I want to find a course for Sinhala, I can go "Asia > South Asia > Sri Lanka > Sinhala", or "Indo-European > Indo-Iranian > Indo-Aryan > Sinhala". These can appear in dedicated pages of maps and tree diagrams, instead of a simple picklist as it appears now on Memrise.

It would also be a great idea to develop a tagging system for courses. Two groups of tag options that I think of now are "script / words / phrases" and "beginner / intermediate / advanced". For instance, this course can be tagged "script, words, phrases, beginner", while this course can be tagged "words, beginner, intermediate".

To make it easier to find the course, I have created a list of courses, although incomplete (estimated coverage 83%). I write Memrise ID and its creator as far as I know (coverage 36%).

Note: Local download is recommended due to the very heavy online search.

7shi Waaaaaa!!! How did you programme to make this super long list?!

johnastsang I manually listed the courses and collected JSON. After that, it is normal JSON parsing.

I stopped halfway through because I didn't want to overload the system too much. In fact, it would be better to have the data provided.

Hi, can I post memrise links to my 7 courses that need importing here? I used the chrome extension and got 7 files on computer but still unable to import them (the message saying my courses are not imported to MLWL yet). Thank you so much in advance! We really appreciate all of your hard working!

              Hi @KonichiwaGato and Radiant. !

Thank you for the kind words! ^_^

I'd be happy to clone those courses, but I've just made a major update to My Little Word Land that requires me to rewrite parts of the cloning script, so it'll probably be a few weeks.

@Radiant., Yes, if you could post links to those courses, that would be great 🙂 Also, thanks for trying out the Chrome extension! :D

neoncube Oh my goodness they are all perfectly imported! Thank you very very much! You all are fantastic! We really appreciate your work, it would have been a deadlock without you guys! Deeply grateful! 🙏🙏🙏🙌🙌🙌

                  Radiant. Yay! ^_^

Glad to hear that they imported well. I finally got some of the long-term bugs in the cloning script fixed, so hopefully it will be smoother sailing for a while! :D

And thanks for the kind words ^_^

Barskiy I finally transferred your course! Sorry for the long delay.

I've added you as the course's author, so you should be able to edit it, and it should automatically show up on your dashboard 🙂

By the way, it looks like your course is listed as being for Russian speakers learning German, but I think the direction of the prompt and answers are set up for German speakers learning Russian. Can you comment on which way is the correct way?

Finally, if you'd like to import your progress from Memrise, so that you don't need to relearn words, just log in to My Little Word Land and then visit this page: https://mylittlewordland.com/import-memrise-progress 🙂

Let me know if you run into any problems! ^_^
