When I downloaded each course's levels from Memrise, the levels contained definitions and alternatives. I just joined the definitions and alternatives together with semicolons 🙂
I think this should preserve the same behaviour as was on Memrise: Semicolons act as separators, and commas don't have any effect.
Of course, back in the day, Memrise used commas as separators, and when they switched to using semicolons, many courses weren't migrated, so there are probably still a lot of courses that use commas as separators 🙂
